Country Living Fair 2013 was fabulous!

What an interesting and fun adventure I had with the Country Living Magazine Fair in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend.  The weather was great for the most part and the attendance was phenomenal!

Fall decided to arrive exactly when I began to set up the tent on Thursday morning . . . in the cold rain.  My dear friend, Bethany Grubb, from Antebellum Farmhouse came to help, too.  We work so well together on shows and our product aesthetics are very complimentary . . . I really was sad that she could not do the show again this year.  I am, however, looking forward to the winter fair in her Antebellum Farmhouse barn in December.  Stay tuned for more information on that magical show, but get it on your calendar now for the first weekend in December.

Friday morning was "rise and shine" with the fabulous Meridith St. John.  At the crack of dawn I picked her and her beautiful hydrangea boutiques up.  Of course we sped through Starbucks first, then was on our way to the Ohio Historical Society grounds.

At 8:30 a.m. the Early Bird shoppers swooshed through and at 10 a.m. I made my way through the crowd to see the general admission shoppers lined at the door.  I felt so blessed to be a part of a show where people lined up at the doors to enter.  The wind factor aside, it was a great first day of the market.

Saturday was a perfect crisp Fall day and my mom joined me in the booth.

Sunday the paced slowed down a bit in the afternoon as the market was coming to an end.

Thank you to all who made it out to show your love of Country Living.  And special thanks to Bethany Grubb, Meridith St.John, my momma, my husband, Cyndi Tawney, and my in-laws.  Without you, I couldn't have made this happen.
XOxoXO, Hedy

Country Living Magazine Fair: Columbus, Ohio, September 13-15

Oh my gosh!  We have been so busy getting our new house renovated . . . and I mean r.e.n.o.v.a.t.e.d, that I have totally neglected my blog . . . since MAY?!

Now,  I'm not talking just painting and hanging new curtains, I'm talking a complete kitchen and bath update, INCLUDING all the plumbing.  Yes, this vintage house needed it's pipes ripped out and updated with new plumbing.  What a task!  I am happy to say that we can now move on to the fun parts...like painting and hanging curtains.

But the fun must be postponed until after my next couple of shows.

In the meantime, I am gearing up for the Country Living Magazine Fair in Columbus, Ohio this September 13, 14, and 15th.

Most of my studio is still in boxes in the garage, so I am sifting and sorting trying to find all my trinkets and treasures for this event.  I have some great new designs, along with some signature favorites, so I hope to see you at the Country Living Fair in a couple of weeks.

This year I will be in the Market Field, booth D355, to be precise.  See you then!

. . . and back to our regularly scheduled presentation.

Hooray! The laptop isn't fried after all.  So, let's get back to what's going on with Hedy Regal Designs.

Last check in I was prepping for The Rural Society's Spring Sale in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.  What a lovely working farm, and the staff is just wonderful.  I always enjoy participating in this show.  This was my only show this Spring and now I am fully focused on the Country Living Fair in Columbus, Ohio in September.

Okay, maybe not fully focused . . . I have my daughter, which is my first love AND we just bought a cute little fixer-upper on the outskirts of Germantown, Ohio that needs my TLC.  Here is a sneak peek at this little charmer.

There are the necessities, like a working kitchen and bathroom that are yet to be done, but everything else will have to wait until after the Fall fairs.  My "studio" is bare bones compared to what I packed up in Columbus, but I think I can make do for now.

Rural Society Spring Sale: May 3 and 4

It's just a couple more weeks until the Rural Society Spring Sale will be here!  Bethany Grubb of Antebellum Farmhouse will give a demonstration on "tablescaping", plus lots of other great vendors.

Don't forget to bring your wellies because this show is at a real working farm . . . sheep, chickens and all!

I'm packing up the gypsy wagon with my signature jewelry, plus some great new jewelry designs and whatever else I come up with between now and then.

Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4 starting at 9AM at Warwick Farms in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

It's official . . . we are in contract!

Well, it's official.  Our house is in contract.  Two days after listing our For Sale by Owner MLS we had two offers.  Two days after that . . . we had a contract with a pre-approved financing letter accompanying it.  The buyer plans to finance the house with an FHA loan, but that made us wonder 1) how long will this process take 2) what sort of updates will we be required to do to meet Federal Housing Authorities guidelines and 3) what will the appraisal value be in comparison with our contracted price?  But today we got the news; 1) we don't have to fix a thing . . . and 2) the appraisal value was approved!  Now . . . to get everything packed and ready to be out of the house in 3 weeks.  This whole process went much faster than we anticipated.

In the meantime, I am getting my inventory together for the Spring Rural Society Sale in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.  I love this sweet little working farm . . . plan to attend on Friday, May 3 and Saturday May 4th.

Dad

You may have noticed that there hasn't been much activity here these past few months, my mind has been on my dad, Andrew.  Our family learned in late November that Dad had brain cancer called Glioma.   Of course, I had to Google it immediately to really understand what we are dealing with . . . you can learn more on Wikipedia.   Sadly, my dads' tumor progressed quickly.  We gathered by his bedside and held his hand and prayed until the earliest of hours on Saturday, March 16th when he joined our Savior, Jesus Christ, in heaven.

It's was a journey for us all . . . and it still is.  My days and nights have been consumed by all the wonderful memories we created along the way.   He will live in our hearts forever and we will cherish how much he added to all of our lives.

God bless Dad and may he rest in peace.

FSBO . . . oh dear!

Well, the time has come to pick up our stuff and move west . . . about an hour and half from here.  My dear husband, Matthew, is a teacher and has driven this route DAILY for the past 5 years.  So we recently took a little road trip to scope out the areas close to his schools.  Now that we have little Greta the school systems have become a big contender in this search.  But, I think we have narrowed it down and I hope to tell you more about it soon.

In the meantime, I've got to get our house in order to get it on the market.  Our game plan is to try selling it on our own first.  Suddenly, I am in high gear . . . it's like spring cleaning and purging and organizing . . . organizing . . . organizing.  A quick little ad on Craigslist this week while I get my fact sheets and contract together for the official FSBO.com listing.  I'm thinkin' an open house in March!  So much to do and need to work in the studio, too, for the upcoming Rural Society Spring Sale in May.  Oh dear!

[Big sigh] Our little home has so many memories, it will be sad to leave.

Sewing Class Schedule Winter 2013

Have I ever mentioned that I teach sewing classes in our hometown sewing shoppe, Sew to Speak, in Clintonville (a little section of north Columbus, OH)?  No?  Well, call me "silly" for not thinking of posting the class schedule here before.

Beginner's Apron:  February 7th 6-9PM (Class Full)
Beginner's Apron:  February 14th 6-9PM
Art Student Tote:  February 21 & 28 6-9PM
Parfait Dress:  March 7 & 14 6-9PM
Lady Grey Coat:  March 21 & 28 6-9PM

Contact me or the shoppe to register.  Space is limited, so don't delay.

If you prefer one-on-one sewing lessons, I am also available for private lessons in your home or my studio.  Another fun idea is to have a sewing soiree . . . gather your friends for an evening of sewing.  You pick the project and I will bring the supplies.
